Hello, I'm Lydia Powers, an experienced UX/UI designer, director, and strategist committed to crafting impactful and delightful user experiences.
I am a Product Designer with over 20 years of design experience, including 11+ years creating user experiences for consumer photo products across retail kiosks, mobile apps, web, and e-commerce platforms.
Throughout my career, I've designed experiences that help people capture, personalize, and preserve their memories—from photo books and greeting cards to prints, wall décor, and personalized gifts. My background in graphic design provides a strong foundation in visual communication, while my UX expertise allows me to transform complex workflows into intuitive, engaging experiences.
I enjoy solving challenging design problems by balancing user needs, business goals, and technical constraints. Whether collaborating with engineers to bring designs to life or identifying opportunities to simplify an experience, I believe the best products come from close cross-functional partnerships and an iterative, user-centered design process.
What inspires me most is designing products that help people preserve, celebrate, and share life's meaningful moments. Creating intuitive, thoughtful experiences that make it easier for customers to turn their memories into lasting keepsakes is both professionally rewarding and personally meaningful.

My technical proficiency encompasses a range of design tools, including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Invision, Zeplin, Sketch, Figma, and Microsoft Office 365. Additionally, I possess familiarity with Adobe After Effects, HTML, CSS, ActionScript, 3D design, video editing, and sound editing.
Beyond technical capabilities, my professional experience includes navigating strategy, communication, and effectively operating within the dynamics of a large corporate environment. I am adept at both leading teams and being a valuable team member, showcasing adaptability in solo and collaborative work environments.
Education
I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design from James Madison University, where I honed my expertise in design principles, art history, and visual communication.
Building on this foundation, I pursued a Master of Fine Arts degree in Interaction Design from the Rochester Institute of Technology. This advanced program expanded my knowledge across diverse areas, including interaction principles, animation, video and sound editing, coding, and experience design. This comprehensive education equips me with a multifaceted skill set to excel in the dynamic field of design.
